Venue
Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) is one of the four national laboratories of INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics), the Italian Institution in charge to coordinate and support research in elementary particles physics, nuclear and sub nuclear physics.

Located between L’Aquila and Teramo, at about 120 km from Rome, the underground structures are on one side of the 10 km long highway tunnel which crosses the Gran Sasso massif (towards Rome).
Outside, immersed in a National Park of exceptional environmental and naturalistic interest on the slopes of the Gran Sasso mountain chain, an area of more than 23 acres hosts laboratories and workshops, the Computing Centre, the Directorate and several other Offices.
Getting There
By plane
The nearest airports to LNGS are in Fiumicino and Pescara.
By bus
TUA Abruzzo provides daily runs from Rome, Giulianova and Pescara to L’Aquila. Please find here detailed timetable of all runs.
Concerning Rome, the bus station is located aside the Tiburtina railway station.
From Giulianova bus leaves from the railway station.
From Pescara bus leaves from the square in front of the railway station.
In L’Aquila the bus terminal is located at the “Collemaggio Terminal Bus”.*
* The city bus M6 reaches Assergi and the Laboratory buildings. You can check timetable of M6 line here.
Furthermore other bus companies available on the internet normally provide buses from Fiumicino and Ciampino airports to L’Aquila, as well as runs from other cities and locations.
By car
The laboratory is located near the Assergi exit of highway A24 Teramo – Rome.
